Junior FIRST Lego League was founded in 2004 by Dean Kamen to introduce 1st-3rd graders to science, technology, and ,of course, FIRST Robotics. Each year JFLL teams are given a challenge, usually similar to the FLL challenge, which they have to research a small part of a big topic for example; snack foods or medical supplies. They build a model which is all built out of legos and this year they even got to program it. The programming was a basic this box spins the motor this way and that, but it was a great introduction to young programmers. The other part of JFLL is the Show Me Poster, this is basically a display board of what they learned, how learned it, what they did, who they talked to, and a little information about themselves. Last year our JFLL team, the Smith Road Stingers, were invited and attended the JFLL expo in St.Louis! Which got us featured on the JFLL page on the FIRST site.
